Monday Night Gaming Report

On the night of Saturday, November the 18th, Victoria, Billy Barrows, Rain-Dog, and Paul Washburne went back to the Museum in order to exocise Secrets-Lost-at-Sea. The idea being that if it was freed from its ties to the books, then the group could escort it back to the sea, thus fulfilling their bargain.

So, while Rain-Dog got down to severing the spiritual bonds that held Secrets in place; Paul shifted over into Twilight to patrol the area; Billy played some sad and sorrowful music, peeking occasionally through the Gauntlet; and Victoria went upstairs to the basement to have a look around. Both Paul and Billy noticed that the Gauntlet was noticably thicker than the previous day - as if their destruction of the Delerium spirits may have shifted the Gauntlet back. Victoria did find some interesting boxes, apparently Egyptian antiquities shipped from Cairo, opened, but then stored away. She heads down to check on things. Right about the same time, Paul is heading back to the sub-basement in Twilight as well. As Rain-Dog nears the end of his ritual, the containment chamber that holds Secrets begins to fill with sea-water, the seams around the edges and the door creaking slightly from the additional weight. There is a sudden, ear-splitting crack...

Victoria finds herself sitting at the old Winslow House, at the kitchen table, looking over some papers.
Billy is sitting on one of the cemetary gate columns, playing his guitar as a tour bus rattles by.
Rain-Dog is sitting in his lodge, meditating while his dinner cooks.
Paul is in wolf-form, stalking through the woods.
A huge peal of thunder rolls ominously over Savannah, and it quickly begins to rain.

The group, each in their seperate locations, realize that it is now 9pm on Friday, November the 24th. They have lost almost an entire week. They manage to all meet back up at the Museum around 9:45. As they talk, they realize that something is amiss - Rain-Dog's familiar ("chucky") reveals that Secrets is no longer beneath the museum AND that chucky himself (and Rain-Dog in some unspecified way) is stronger than before. Too, Victoria's digital camera has a number of photographs from the 'missing week' - the Aquarium, some apartment complexes, and the local penitentiary - on subsequent nights from Monday the 20th thru Wednesday the 22nd - indicating that she, at least, was out and doing things. Paul cannot figure out how he was snatched (and presumably dragged) from Twilight back to the real world.
While at the Museum, the PCs head inside to try and find some answers.

In one gallery, they run into a women's reading circle. However, apparently the leader of the group is a vampire. She and Victoria lock horns for a moment before the group is turned out of the small gallery. Finding Rebecca Starr in the back of the museum by the security station, the PCs manage to get a copy of the video feed from the sub-basement for the night of the ritual and that Ms. Starr must have had someone watching inside the museum the night of the ritual because she knew that afterwards Victoria and Rain-Dog were speaking in some 'foreign' language (i.e. High Speech).

They play the DVD-recording back on Victoria's camera-equipment, but can't tell too much. They decide to take the tape back to Victoria's house to play it back on a larger screen. Once there, they can watch the tape, but, of course, there's no sound. So, Rain-Dog calls up a technology spirit from the TV - Late-Night Static - to "fill in the gaps" of the tape. On the tape, the group hears the tail end of Rain-Dog's ritual, a huge crack, the picture comes on and they see the seals on Secret's containment cell crack and untold gallons of sea-water go flooding into the sub-basement. Victoria and Rain-Dog talk in High Speech briefly - mainly about getting out of the Museum, but also chanting back and forth with one another (and the chanting sounded like the sea tide going back and forth) - and are seen to leave with Billy (Paul no where to be seen, but assumed to be present in Twilight). Billy suspects that perhaps after severing Secrets physical tie to the books that the group themselves became living fetters for Secrets.

The group then decides to head to the Aquarium, arriving about midnight. Inside the Aquarium restaurant, the PCs encounter a spirit - Shraxa - who is some sort of Octopoid-hunger spirit. They manage to discern that Shraxa is the 'parent' of the Glutton-spirits that the group battled before, but apparently when the PCs came here during the week they had made a bargain with Shraxa - information about its 'children' in return for bringing it delicacies to eat.

Now, the PCs know where to find the other Glutton-spirits... but what will they do about it?

Monday Night Gaming Report.

I'm skipping over the Pack's rapid assault on the apartment of the cook from the WaffleShak. Suffice to say that it was a bit of quick and near-bloodless mayhem and intimidation, the human predator confessed to the cops, and the PCs made off with the spirit-haunted knife.

After retreiving the Spirit-Haunted Knife, Victoria (keeping the knife wrapped up in cloth) stashed it away at the old Winslow Place. The Pack split up to take care of more mundane things.

Rain-Dog went to a Masqued Ball - his Order holds one in Savannah every new moon. While there he traded some secrets to learn that there is at least one group of mortals in the city who fancy themselves occultists. A member of the Mysterium (whose name is "Caller") watches over them somewhat and has noticed that lately there are an increased number of Knowledge spirits following the mortals around. He doesn't know why yet, but its happening.

Some time later, Victoria was visited by another Vampire, Rebecca Starr. Ms. Starr is apparently part of a small group of Vampires; she is in charge of their security too. These vampires meet at the local museum but Ms. Starr has recently had some trouble with security; specifically the video feed coming from a specific room underneath the museum (the very same one Secrets-Lost-At-Sea currently inhabits). Her mortal Ghoul tells her that there is nothing wrong with the physical security or the video feed, but nonetheless all that camera records or shows is static. Ms. Starr doesn't seem to believe too much in the whole 'occult realms of spirits,' but was tipped off to the presence of Victoria and her ties to the Cult of Set. So, Ms. Starr wants Victoria to come to the museum and 'solve' the problem of the video feed. Victoria said she'd look into - no terms of payment were discussed other than Victoria being "rewarded for her service... such as it is." Bob watched the interaction between the two Vampires from Twilight and found Ms. Starr to be very disturbing. Victoria informed the rest of the group bit by bit when she could find them.

Paul Washburne resigned from the FBI, turned in his gear, then took off for the wilderness for a couple of weeks. Returning to his campsite one morning, he discovered that it had been found and apparently watched. He made his way back to town, feeling like he was being followed. He checked in at the Winslow House and at FBI headquarters... however, he believes that his call to the FBI was bugged, but apparently at the office end and not the Winslow House.

On Friday (Nov 17th, 2000 - Waxing Gibbous Moon), Victoria, Rain-Dog, and Paul Washburne headed over to the Old Town Museum, logged themselves in at 9pm, and then headed to the sub-basement. Once there, they discovered that there were a number of Knowledge spirits lurking around the room, the local Gauntlet was much thinner that it should be (and had gotten that way since the last time they visited), and that there were a number (7) of Dementia spirits lurking around Secrets-Lost-at-Sea's containment box. As Paul crossed over to the spirit-world, Victoria darkened the room to ease the transition to Twilight, and Rain-Dog attempted to communicate with the Dementia spirits. Three of them moved closer to the group and attempted to 'alter' their mental state. The PCs took this as a hostile action (not getting any real communication out of them anyway) and began to attack.

OOC: GM Notes - this was a fairly standard little melee and our first really big fight since the game started. I had intended to have a big fight, and I had planned for it to be with the whole group. Jason - who played Sam {looking back I don't see that I actually have him mentioned all that much in the LJ reports, but he wound up being something of a crucial character from time to time} - isn't playing in this game anymore. But I figured that I'd still keep it at 7 Dementias. Josh got 2 new jobs... one of which has him up at 4 am. So he hasn't been around for gaming during the past 3 or 4 weeks {we miss you Josh!}. Well, 2 extra Dementias aren't all that bad. I'd loosened them up from the book stat's anyway. Well, we havent seen Ashley for a coupla weeks either. 3 extra Dementias? Ahh, they can take it. chronozerom didn't make it tonight. Man... 4 extra Dementias? Wooooh.

So, it wound up being 7 on 3. I originally had planned for 7 Dementia spirits (one for each PC) that would use their madness-inflicting abilities to not only screw with the PCs, but also to get the other Knowledge spirits in the area to attack as well. Roaming Fear and Murder spirits still in the Museum would eventually be attracted depending on how long the combat lasted. I had intended for this to be a big big fight that would tax the abilities of a group of 5 Werewolves, a Mage, and a Vampire. Seeing that I only had 1 each Werewolf, Mage, Vampire, I just had the Dementia spirits themselves attack (plus I had a little random table for the Madness spirits occasionally turning on one another). As it was, the PCs took a bit of a beating. Especially Victoria - not because she's a Vampire or anything, I just kind of rolled really really well when attacking her. She had to sit out a couple of rounds defending and healing herself. Rain-Dog had to do the same one round. Paul only took like 4 lethal the entire fight.

After dispatching the Dementia spirits, Secrets-Lost-at-Sea told the PCs that, while he didn't remember exactly when the Dementia spirits showed up, he believed that it was because of the strange humans who kept trying to figure out the secrets he contained. The PCs offered to sever the ties that bind Secrets to the books and chest so that he could roam free. He said that if that was the only way to get him out of the prison he was in, that he'd do it... providing the PCs escorted him back to the sea (he's a little unsure about the city spirits who surround him).

Rain-Dog's voice journal : 1

Well, after that weird dream about the wolves at the door,I was almost dissapointed when I ended up at the Waffle-Shit.Talking to some of the streeters didn't turn up much, but there's something out here pulling some heavy mojo.
I scoped the place out,and it's lousy with spirits. And not the usual stuff either, but thats not the weirdest part of the day. Inside the diner is a old aquaintance of mine, Billy, this Roky Erikson wanna-be local dude.Chilling with some Fed types, but heres the thing..they are all sitting under the shadow of this big nasty THING lurking in the twilight. It hurt my eyes to look at it,and Chucky wouldnt get close to it either. Seems Billy and the boingers there were all skinchangers, how about that? The Great Spirit provides eh?(More about Big Black in a bit..)

We met, talked a bit and showed our cards.Sounds like there is someone or thing throwing some heavy shit around in the ether.Nasty skin-riding hunger-spirits possessing folks, making them eat themselves to death. American consumerism writ large on the souls of these poor schlubs. So they say they've been looking into it, but need to work the otherside of the veil.My bread and butter. We head to their place,a creepy old joint in the uptown, and I start to nose around.Seems there's a vampire hanging around there too, first I"ve ever met.Pretty nice as unliving abominations go,but I"m starting to wonder just who's side these guys are on.They SAY theyre trying to keep things in balance, but looking at the house, their "totem",their vampire roomate..I dunno.I wont be spending the night there anytime soon.
There was a guy at the diner with some spirit-bound knife that caught my attention,so I threw out some feelers about that and the heavy concentration of glut/hunger spirits at the diner.Check the library for answers they tell me, so once night falls we head down to see what we can find out.
We get in, lots of knowledge spirits lingering around.BIG ones, not the usual types, and hiding deep in the shadows, murder-fear spirits...hunting.
Not good.I dont' like that shit at all.
We make our way down to the basement, where we hear echos of chanting (Worship?),and meet 'Secrets lost at sea'.Secrets is a spirit with a pretty self descriptive name, I suss it knows something, but it wants a promise that we will return it to the sea before it will tell us anything.I'm thinking it might have something to do with the weirdness in the library, maybe in the whole area,it's too soon to tell. We decide to check out the dude with the knife, and make our way there. We're joined by some more of the pack, a shamantype and a weird guy in a suit.Me and vampy hang outside while the others cross over and get into position.I see blood from Carlos' door to the trash,I sense cold, and when we get to the doorstep of his apt..there's a ghost. Some poor woman's spirit still clinging there, her throat slit..my mind returns to Carlos' knife.
Billy must have ready my vibe, cause he breaks the door in and me and the others enter. Place looks like a slaughter house, feels like a meat-locker.Some bad shit went down here, that much is obvious.Billy slams some stuff around, I introduce him to some of the apartments natives, and we get the truth.Carlos killed his girl, chopped her up and dragged her to the dumpster. The knife he killed her with has been soaking up all the fear the whole time, and it's all charged up.Thats what raised the flag to me in the diner.
I made sure Carlos was able to "see" his handywork before we charged him to admit his crime and turn himself in.Gotta hand it to the wolfboys and vampy,it was a good thing we did there. Felt damn good to get at least one scumbag out of the area, but here's the rub...

Checking that knife and Carlos, there's no way they are the ones bringing all this weirdness down on Savannah. There's more happining here, and its big.Guess the G.S isn't done with me or the Addams family yet.So we'll keep on digging for answers, and I'll keep on watching them.

I ain't sleeping there tho'..
-NO way brother!

The Library of Shadows - A World of Knives and Faith

A World of Knives and Faith, Book 2
Chapter One Saturday, October 28th, 2000
After their interesting night out, the group spreads out to their homes around the city. Billy Barrows heads back to the Old Winslow place with Victoria, but as the sun rises he begins to experience a disturbing dream. In the vision, he was surrounded by blackness, but filled with an incredible hunger. The blackness was soon replaced by a glaring mixture of color and sound, all too bright and loud to make out any detail... but despite that it only seemed to fuel the hunger burning inside him, as if the richness of the sensation was like a new food.
Waking up, Billy called Agent Washburne to tell him about the dream. Washburne wanted to meet at a local diner - the WaffleShak.
Chapter Two
At the WaffleShak, Billy and Washburne met up with a local named Rain-Dog who had been planning on checking out the WaffleShak for other reasons. It seems that the WaffleShak had a long history with the local down-and-out for the copious amounts of food they discarded daily. However, of late, the restaurant's business had vastly increased, yet the homeless and destitute eating handouts, leftovers, and throwaways were becoming emaciated. In the restaurant, Rain Dog, Billy, and Washburne got a table together. In the Shadow, there were numerous spirits... a dense concentration of them that was odd in and of itself. Furthermore, the majority of the spirits were Gluttony or Hunger spirits. While they were there, they did witness some other spirit activity, but much of it appeared normal - rats, cockroaches, and so forth. Rain Dog did witness one other oddity in the WaffleShak - one of the knives that a cook was using appeared to be solid both in the real world and in Shadow.
Deciding that the WaffleShak was in serious need of some attention at a later date, the group set to leave - but Billy snuck back in to the Shadow and went back in to find and interrogate one of the Gluttony Spirits. From the spirit, he found out that there was something over at the Old Town Museum's new exhibit that may shed light on the mysteries the characters currently face.
Chapter Three
Back at the old Winslow place, Washburne, Billy, Bob, Victoria, and Rain Dog all meet up, get acquainted, and decide to head out to the museum at 7:30.
The museum is fairly crowded - apparently the new exhibit "How Savannah Touched the World" - opened just the previous night. In the museum, Billy went off to the restroom so that he could enter the Shadow - Washburne followed him and got pulled along as well. Once in the Shadow, both changed in to wolf-form and stalked off, trying to find a way to the basement. Upstairs, Victoria, Bob, and Rain Dog roamed the exhibit. Among the exhibit, there were a number of photographs and framed articles indicating that the Mid-Atlantic Oceanic Institute funded and conducted a bit of research on ships sunken off of the coast near Savannah. Pictured amongst the artifacts retrieved were a number of items that were not on display - a wooden sarcophagus, a chest of books, some stone spheres, and several unique octopi and fish. In the Shadow near the exhibit were a number of Knowledge and Curiosity spirits, but for the most part they were low-level spirits with limited intelligence. There were a few large Knowledge spirits that seemed to be Magath of some kind, but they tended to hover over small crowds in the museum making it difficult for the PCs to get too close. While watching, Rain Dog spotted some other spirits lingering nearby - but apparently hiding. Closer inspection revealed these to be Fear and Murder spirits, but they weren't hiding, they were apparently stalking prey. Before the group could investigate, Billy came up in the Shadow to bring the rest of the group down to the basement where he and Washburne had found a semi-hidden elevator.
Chapter Four
While trying to figure out what to do next, the elevator began to rise. From it stepped a young business man and a middle-aged woman. The middle-aged woman hesitated as she left the elevator as if she perhaps sensed that something was amiss, but she did not wait around or investigate. Down the elevator the group found a large open room filled with 8 climate-controlled plexi-glass boxes. Each of these huge workrooms had some artifact or collection within being preserved for later study. Among these were the items that Victoria had noticed pictured but absent from the exhibit. In the Shadow, the cubicle containing the chest of books was inhabited by a large spirit apparently made up of books and scrolls. Named Secrets Lost at Sea, this spirit told the PCs that in return for answering 5 questions it wanted to be released back in to the sea where it would not be disturbed again. The group debated about this for some time, finally deciding that they'd have to come back with more preparation.
Chapter Five
On the way home from the museum, the PCs stopped off at the WaffleShak. The spiritual presence was less, but still fairly dense for such a setting. The knife that Rain Dog had seen in the kitchen was no longer there, but the PCs managed to get the name and address for the cook who had been using the knife.

IC Posts - Paul Washburne

Personal journal:
Its been a month now since the subsequent events at the old Winslow house, and I find myself wondering if I am starting to go crazy. Ever since I leaped out the window to cut off the escaped convict and was attacked by a pack of wild dogs, I find myself seeing and doing things that I cannot explain. I believe I have picked up some type of illness from the dogs as my emotions flare unchecked at times, while other times I see people walking and talking as large dogs on two legs. I have to shake the cobwebs out of my head, as these images are quite disturbing at times. I find that I too see myself as one of these beasts, usually when I am alone, looking in the mirror while I am shaving or when I am asleep at night I have these dreams. The lines of reality are beginning to blur for me more and more.I fear staying here in Savannah for any length of time
is going to fracture my mind completely.

Official report for F.B.I.

on Oct 27th I was called to 316 Caroline Ave to investigate an unusual crime scene. I found myself at the home of one
Eugene Marrows. The deceased was found dead in the kitchen of his home, face down on the floor.Upon examination of the body, the victims finger were found to have been either ripped off or bitten off. Further examination of the deceased led to the finding of said fingers inside the victims mouth and esophagus. a thorough search of the house and surrounding grounds turned up the following: the victim had recently ordered food from a local grocer, yet no food was found anywhere on the premises. From his bank records, I was able to determine that the deceased had recently gone to a seafood restaurant at the local aquarium. The autopsy report further showed that the victims stomach was filled almost beyond capacity with food. I was able to cross check the victims grocery list with the food in his stomach. The only unusual thing found was seafood. The victim did not have any such type of food on his grocery bill. I found this strange as food is usually
completely digested within 24 hours of ingestion.
The cause of death from the coroner is thought to be death from asphyxiation.
A second person was found to have similar symptoms of the previous victim. One Albert Cross of the prison system and
employee of Warden Lawson. It seems that the good warden was concerned for this employee as he has been acting in an unusual manner for the last week. With the Warden's help,we were able to question the suspect without his knowledge
of my being there and found that he too had recently ate at this new restaurant that has opened at the Aquarium.
Warden Lawson was able to help me obtain a search warrant for this investigation, and I would like to include a high
recommendation for his assistance in this matter.
It is this agents personal opinion that the restaurant is inducing its patrons into some type of new drug which makes the
victims extremely hungry. However, whatever this new drug could possibly be, it does not show up in the toxicology reports of the first victim. I will need to obtain the reports for Albert Cross and compare them to Eugene Marrow's report. If it is found that Albert Cross has seafood in his stomach from a week ago, Then this new drug, introduced through the seafood, does not allow said food to break down in the digestive system. If this is the case, then a search warrant will have to be obtained for the Aquarium and research facilities. Such a drug, introduced into the world market would be catastrophic to society as a
whole. I will need to investigate further, as I have no clear cut suspects at this time.

End report .

The World of Knives and Faith - Monday Night Gaming Report

Intermezzo
As a side note, I'm calling these individual scenes "Chapters"... they're still pretty much 'scenes' but I'm calling them Chapters, all right? All right.

A month has passed in Savannah.... and a new pack of werewolves has formed. Billy Barrows, William Lawson, Bob 'the Butcher,' and Paul Washburne joined together with the remnants of an old pack - Sam (a young Uratha who now spends most of his time in wolf-form) and Sarge (an old, Army, wheel-chair bound vet). Watching over this pack is the Blinding Fear - an inscrutable spirit of darkness that requires the pack to eat the eyes of prey they catch once a month and find a befriend a vampire.
Chapter 3
On October 27th (New Moon), Washburne gets a call from his old friend, the local coroner, who has something of an oddity on his hands. Paul drives out to a local townhouse; entering, the house smells of death. Passing an up-ended wheelchair, Paul finds his friend standing over a covered body in the kitchen. The recently deceased lived alone, rarely going out, and apparently they asphyxiated - choking to death after gnawing off their own fingers. Paul called Lawson to see if Lawson could call in a favor through his legal contacts to get a warrant for the deceased's phone. After some initial inquiries, the last place that the deceased visited was a local movie theatre and a new seafood restaurant so Paul went to find another pack mate who knows a bit about the city - Billy Barrows. Together the two of them headed out to the old Winslow Place.
Chapter 4
Finishing up paperwork, William Lawson notices that one of his guards, a single 20-something, has been taking excessive breaks. Lawson calls in the young man, Albert Cross, to find him unkempt - his shirt and tie covered in crumbs and coffee stains. Lawson gives him a dressing down, berating him as well for his slovenly behavior. After Cross leaves, Lawson calls some of his police contacts to have Cross followed and watched for the rest of the day.
Chapter 5
Billy tells Washburne that the strange girl who was at the old Winslow place that night has wound up either buying or is renting the old Winslow place now. So, by nightfall the entire pack has wound up at the old Winslow place. Some of them have figured out by now that Victoria is ... well, dead. She's a vampire, so the group befriends her and the Blinding Fear is partly appeased.
While at the old Winslow place, some of the Pack go scouting around in the spirit world - since this place obviously is holding some secrets and is creepy mysterious. The old Winslow place itself is fairly solid in the Shadow - solid and scary and creepy and menacing. Inside, it seems to be overly large, with lots of brooding shadows. Outside it seems to loom above interlopers, always watching, slightly aware.
Out on the property in the spirit world, there are four big trees, spaced apart, a fair ways away from the house. Apparently these trees' spirits are pretty violent. Three members of the pack poked around the tree, determined it somewhat dangerous, and decided to come back to deal with them later on.
Chapter 6
The PCs all head out to the Aquarium. The Mid-Atlantic Oceanic Institute owns a piece of real estate on the coast - they've had a research facility in Savannah for quite some time. A decade or two ago, they also built a large Aquarium there. Originally started as a place to hold specimens, a subsequent series of budget cuts turned the Aquarium into a tourist attraction that raised money for the research wing. In recent years, tourism for the Aquarium has fallen off. So, in order to continue their funding, a large restaurant - complete with the largest indoor aquarium on the Georgia coast - was built. In the 3 months since its been open it has been a huge success. The Aqua-land Restaurant was the last place that Washburne's mystery corpse visited.
Victoria gets the Pack in, and the Pack gets the Blinding Fear to cloak them all in shadows for a half-hour. They spend the first bit of their time exploring the research wing of the Institute, but do not find too much. They split up - Washburne and Lawson plumbing the computers for information; Victoria and Sam heading into the Aquarium to search for clues; and Billy and Bob head into the restaurant. Billy nabs a rat as it scampers into the kitchen and eats its eyes. Billy and Bob later get 'surprised' by a huge octopus in the center tank, and notice that there is an entrance to the tank at the top. Just as they're deciding to find a way up to investigate the tank, the control that the Blinding Fear has over shadows ends and Lawson gets a phone call. Its one of the local cops who just witnessed Cross buying some $300 worth of groceries to take home to his bachelor apartment.
So, the Pack (and Victoria) heads over to Mr. Cross' place to see what's going on.
Chapter 7
All heck breaks loose when it become apparent that Mr. Cross is possessed by something. After a sound beating from three Gauru, Mr. Cross is unconscious and likely in need of serious medical help. Sam finally makes it up to the room (after shagging some hot bitches in the parking lot. Yes, bitches as in female dogs. Yes, hot as in 'in heat.') in time to banish the spirit from the insensate Mr. Cross. Billy then leads most of the Pack across the Gauntlet where they trounce and discorporate the Gluttony Spirit.
Meanwhile, Washburne stands outside Mr. Cross Gauru-kicked-in door and tells people to go back to bed, mind their own business, FBI investigation taking place, etc while Victoria blankets the apartment interior in solid blackness (also allowing her to watch the Pack destroy the spirit).

OOC - Monday Night Game Report Notes

Ok... thoughts about last nights game.

I enjoyed it. I'm going along with the idea of "don't roll unless you mean it" or "say yes or roll the dice" (or other various naming conventions) - what this means is that unless you guys have a chance of serious messing up or are facing off against a tougher opponent, I'm not going to make you do too much rolling. Like I didn't have Billy or Victoria roll for breaking in to the Winslow House - not because it wouldn't normally require a roll, but because 1) they'd keep trying until they got in, 2) the story requires that they get inside, and 3) they both had dots in Larceny which allows lockpicking. So, no roll. Now, had those new locks that the police put on the front door been accompanied by an alarm system of some sort, yeah, I would have required a roll - not to get in, but to get in unnoticed. See the difference?

Anywho, there was a lot of intra-party conflict last night... hopefully that will settle down and become friendly rivalry now that the vast majority of the group are werewolves and destined to be a pack. I understand that a coupla lawmen faced with an escaped convict are going to attempt to bring him in, but given that we're playing a cooperative game, you guys should try and make some allowances.

I didn't give out XP for last night's session - sorry guys, but those 25 XP that you got for going through the Werewolf change was just to reflect your initial change and the training that the Tribe gives you. Don't expect anywhere near that much on a regular basis. Instead, you'll get XP that's slightly more on par with what you're used to from White Wolf.

I'll do a PC sheet update a little bit later on. Maybe not today, but before the next time we play ... which, incidentally, will be January 30th for The Library of Shadows.

The World of Knives and Faith
Chapter Two:

In the old Winslow house there is a room overlooking the gardens and the river. In this old and moldering parlor countless memorable events had occurred... and some of them still lingered.

Billy Barrows sat on the floor in the middle of the room, lightly strumming his guitar. In front of him, a Zippo lighter sat in front of a mirror. Behind him was a large bay window overlooking a sloping lawn running down to a broad river, overhung with a threatening, stormy sky. From the northern door, Bob, an escaped convict, stealthily approached. In the north-east door, Victoria, a young college student carrying video-recording equipment and cameras stood. Agent Washburne of the FBI Paranormal division stepped in through the south-east door, and silhouetted in the southern doorway was Warden Lawson.

As Lawson and Washburne stepped into the room with guns raised, calling out for Bob to surrender himself. As Lawson stepped into the room the voice of young girl also cried out, "Noooooo!" Bob dashed across the short intervening space, and grabbed Victoria, holding her as a shield against the agents. A few tense moments passed as the agents shouted at Bob, while Victoria and Billy shouted for everyone to calm down. Lawson advanced on Bob, Billy tried to get everyone to calm down. Washburne prodded the pile of clothing and refuse that continued to cry and wail piteously "Noo! Daddy! Daddy, no!" only to find a child's toy parrot, apparently repeating the last things that it heard. As Lawson continued to threaten Bob with a gun, Billy rushed over and put himself in front of both Victoria and Bob. Despite their claims to be law enforcement and FBI, neither Lawson nor Washburne had yet shown a badge - merely come in brandishing guns. As Washburne stands up with the toy parrot, Bob, Billy, and Victoria see a spectral little girl through the bay window, clutching a toy parrot doll... she lifts her hand to wave and they notice that she's missing at least a couple of fingers. The girl then rapidly vanishes - retreating away from the window as if she is dragged or carried off by something unseen. Billy charges the window, kicking out a pane, screaming and staring off into the night, calling for the little girl. Lawson sees the confusion as his opportunity and darts forward attempting to grab Bob. Bob locks Lawson's arm, Washburne attempts to pull Victoria away, but she darts off to one side attempting to capture everything on tape. Lawson shoots Bob in the leg, blood sprays out splattering across Lawson's arm, chest, and face. His eyes roll back into his head so that only pale white orbs glare out. Another crash of glass is heard and a body appears in the middle of the room. The mirror has been shattered, the Zippo knocked over and extinguished. The newcomer is in tattered and torn clothing, covered in blood. The smell of blood and gunpowder permeates the room. Lawson, possessed by some unknown entity, fires off a shot at Bob's outstretched hand while Washburne attempts to talk Bob into putting on a pair of handcuffs and giving up. Billy's calling out for someone to help him with the wounded guy. The wounded guy shouts out, "Its here!" and attempts to scramble away from the corner of the room where the cops and convict are struggling. When Billy attempts to help him up, the stranger cries out, shoving Billy away, and diving for the window. Billy lands with his shirt torn open and blood blossoming across the fabric. Washburne, seeing Bob cuffed, turns towards the sound of the shouts; Lawson spins and fires off a shot into the back of the stranger, propelling the body out of the shattered window. While everyone is watching the window, pale white hands and arms reach out and pull Bob away. Victoria sees this and cries out that the prisoner is escaping. Washburne turns, Lawson seemingly wakes up, and Billy finally freaks out and runs. Washburne notices that Bob's blood-trail ends at a razor-sharp line in the hallway, but when he hears the sound of Billy's truck starting up out in the yard he dashes across the room and attempts to dive out of the broken window. However, he is suddenly surprised by what appears to be a small group of dogs sniffing around under the window. Cue cacophony of barking, howling, yelping, growling and some punctuated gun-shots. Washburne gets bitten and scratched up pretty badly. Lawson and Victoria go to investigate some of the remainder of the house - especially where Bob could have gone. Directly above where his blood-trail ended was a pair of handcuffs embedded in the ceiling - not as if they had been thrown upwards with force, but as if there plastered into the ceiling when it was last repaired.

Epilogue
Everyone leaves the house, takes some time to rest up.

Bob got pulled into the spirit-world by a werewolf who recognized that Bob's long standing problems with anger and violence are systematic of a powerful legacy.

Billy sweats through three days and nights of intense visions, strange dreams, and horrific nightmares.

Paul Washburne spends a week hiding out in a hotel room, snapping at people when dealing with them in person, and generally avoiding the world

William Lawson does a little investigating. Eventually pulls Billy Barrows in for some questioning and while pushing him for details triggers a violent episode. Billy bites Lawson and then leaves him in his office. Lawson sweats and writhes, passing out. Sometime later he comes to in his office.

Victoria delves into the history of the Winslow House, discovering that the oldest surviving member of the Winslow family (and one of the last inhabitants of the house) still lives in Savannah. Robert Winslow is now 92 and in a nursing home. The house is in his grandson's name. The grandson lives in Arizona and refuses to sell the house, but does finally agree to rent the place out - as is.

The Library of Shadows
The World of Knives and Faith

Chapter One:
Out on the edge of the city of Savannah lies the old Winslow house. The house has been abandoned for some time, but because of its secluded location it is a favorite haunt of the destitute and the desperate. Until recently, that is. Because of numerous complaints, the local police department have increased patrols in the area.

Victoria, an urban explorer and supernatural aficionado, is in the attic of the house - she has spent the day exploring the grounds and later the manor itself. As night begins to fall, she hears a loud crash from downstairs. She freezes and waits quietly, only to hear the faint sounds of music from somewhere below.

Billy Barrows, local musician of some renown, has finally tracked down the source of strange rhyme recited by local children to the old Winslow house and the children of former servants who worked there.
the rhyme:
"One for blood, two for stone. You never know, when you'll be bone. Three for fire, four for death. You never know, you'll loose your breath. Five for sin, Six to kill. You never know, what's under the hill."
Arriving at the house, Billy breaks in by kicking down the front door. He wanders about inside until he finds a room that overlooks the darkening river. He dusts off a mirror, sets his trusty zippo up in front of it, and sits down to start playing. While attempting to get the "mood" of the house, Billy launches into some impromptu song.

On the nearby interstate highway, rain is pelting down. As Paul Washburne is driving south for his new assignment in Savannah, while at the same time Mr. William Lawson is riding in a prisoner-transport van that is delivering four convicts from South Carolina to his penitentiary in Savannah. Among the prisoners is Bob 'the Butcher'... a man possibly wrongly accused of murder. At first everything seems fine, but then a car swerves wildly on the rain-soaked highway. It smashes into the Econoline van which rocks wildly before spinning out of control, striking Washburne's car, and dragging all three vehicles off the road and down an embankment.

Bob comes too first. Using blood and rain, he loosens up his bonds, crawls out of the wreckage and into the night. Shortly thereafter, Warden Lawson and Agent Washburne both come to, and get acquainted. Lawson heads up to the road to try and flag down a passing car, while Washburne checks on Lawson's prisoners - all dead. When Washburne informs Lawson that his driver and all three prisoners are dead, Lawson realizes that one of them has escaped. Off in the distance they see the silhouette of a house with a few dim lights. Lawson recognizes it as the old Winslow place and knows that it should be abandoned, and when Washburne says that the prisoner's tracks head toward the house, the two men pull flashlights and pistols and head out. At the house, the two men split up after finding the front door broken, deciding to encircle the house as best they can and entrap the escaped convict.

All of this comes together in the drawing room.

Intermission

That's the first half of the night, more to follow.

New Game - Savannah, GA

Ok gang, new game, resurrecting an old journal.

Our new World of Darkness game will be set in Savannah, GA during the year 2000. There will be instances of down-time for the PCs to train, take care of business, what-ever, so we will most likely catch up to modern day at some point.

Recurring themes will be: hidden knowledge, secret knowledge, shadows, and "rotten to the core."

I've got rough ideas for characters from Desi and Josh... nothing yet from the rest of you.

Our first game will be on January 2nd, and then once every 4 weeks after that - so probably not a lot of traffic for this page. Still, I'll intermittently post some things here for you folks to peruse.
